The inaugural event, played on 6th November 2005 to coincide with the revival of the professional tournament of the same name, was won by Jimmy Gratton who knocked in 2 superb breaks in his quarter final (73) and semi final (104) setting the bench mark for future competitions at the club.
There was a great turnout for this event with 16 players breaking off for their 1 frame knockouts. All players in the top six of the summer league were off -7 and the 2 junior club member were off +14.
Young Elliot Anastiasou took Paul Beech to a black ball game in his first round draw and after some nervous attempts, including Paul missing the black over the pocket, the young lad slotted it in and moved on to play Jimmy Gratton who had beaten his brother Alex - another junior club member - in a great first game. Jimmy paid respectful comments about the 2 young lads and hoped that they would continue to enter the club tournaments.
Meanwhile Andrew Redfern was solidly making his way to the final taking out Terry Salt, Mark Jones and Mick Davies in what proved to be excellent strategic games.
