Winner - Lee Shanker |
||
Lee Shanker won a thrilling final over Number 1 League placed Mark Jones which could have gone either way. Mark continued his devastating form, from the Semi Final, against Lee, taking the first frame. Mistakes in Marks game began to creep in during the second which allowed Lee to get his arm going to draw level. Mark dug in to win the next frame. The fourth frame was a crucial frame with Mark 37 in front and 2 reds left, both in very safe positions. An 'attempted' safety shot developed both of the reds into pottable positions and Lee stepped in clearing the table with a magnificent 39 break to level the match. In the next 2 frames Mark took late leads in the frames only to stumble on frame balls to allow Lee to claw back and clear on pink or black to take the frames. The significant prize money on offer certainly seemed to factor in the nights performance. Final score 4-2. Well done Lee. |

Semi Finals |
|
Mark Jones V Jon Atkinson
Mark started the Semi finals on excellent form, missing very few chances and providing significant visiting scores to make the game difficult for, an unusually out of sorts, Jon to come back. Final score 3-0. |
Lee Shanker V Jordan Geldard
This proved to be a tough match, both players mixing up excellent potting and safety to try and take the upper hand. Unfortunately it was a timely fluke from Lee in the last frame on the blue that denied Jordan his place in the final. Final score 3-2 |
