| General:- |
| Jimmy started playing snooker after a long break (ahem) again in 1998 but it was sheer luck that got him back into league snooker. His first game in 8 years was with a friend at the Duffield Mens Club. After a few frames he was knocking in some impressive breaks and a small crowd gathered. Jimmy was asked if he would like to become a member of the club and jimmy signed straight up, a week later the captain of the belper cons team, also a member of the duffield club, had heard of this strange nocturnal ball playing! character, rang him and arranged a game to see if he was as good as the rumours suggested. Jimmy went over and played the captain and duly gave him a whooping (again quote), the captain instantly asked Jimmy if he would join his team in the derby league and jimmy accepted. The following season Jimmy captained the belper cons team through bringing together a serious team of contenders which won them the league title, which they managed to win in 2000. The rest, as they say, is history. |
